COLUMBIA COUNTY (WITI) — Columbia County Sheriff’s officials responded on Monday, March 18th to a crash involving a truck that collided with a train.

It happened just after 11:15 a.m. on Meek Road approximately five miles northeast of the Village of DeForest at the Dane-Columbia County line.

Officials say the preliminary investigation into the crash confirms that a farm grain-style truck was travelling west on Meek Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at the railroad intersection.

Huebner was transported by Arlington EMS to the University Of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison. Huebner was cited for Fail to Stop at Stop Sign along with Fail to Wear Seatbelt.

The train was traveling south at approximately 10mph. The train is owned by Canadian Pacific Railway.

The train consisted of two engines and five cars. Damage to the train or to the train tracks is undetermined at this time.
