Schmadl admits to soliciting a prostitute on video

CUDAHY (WITI) -- A candidate for alderman in Cudahy tells FOX6 News that allegations he solicited a prostitute are untrue. But surveillance video released by police appears to prove otherwise.

The video is of a police interview with Bob Schmadl on February 20th. It was taken after a confidential informant told police she had sex with Schmadl for money.

Police recorded Schmadl's call to the escort setting up a meeting. At first, he denied it was anything more than lunch. But Schmadl later admits to seeing the escort twice in the prior six months.

Officer: How much did you pay her?
Schmadl: 50 bucks, 75 bucks.
Officer: 50 for one and 75 for another?
Schmadl: Yes.
Officer: Did you have sex with her?
Schmadl: Yes.
Officer: Both times?
Schmadl: No, just once.
Officer: And that was at your house?
Schmadl: Yes.

Schmadl denies mentioning the names of Cudahy officers and showing the escort police paraphernalia. But he did admit he had a Milwaukee Police t-shirt -- and denied he told her he could influence police.

In the end, Schmadl was cited for soliciting a prostitute.

On Thursday, March 21st, the Schmadl campaign said the accusations against him were blatantly untrue. FOX6 News asked if the campaign would like to update the statement. The campaign said no, the statement stands.
