Cops pull man from burning pickup truck in Euclid, Ohio

EUCLID, OHIO (CNN) -- Police officers in Euclid, Ohio pulled a man from a burning truck, and it was caught on camera.

Euclid police jumped into action when they got the call that a pickup truck went off the road and burst into flames, after crashing into a building on Babbit and Tungsten roads. The truck's driver was trapped inside.

"Immediately grabbed my fire extinguisher out of the trunk and ran to the car smashed the passenger window to ventilate the car because the cabin was completely filled with smoke and then try to knock down the flames with the fire extinguisher," Euclid Police Officer Adam Beese said.

During the rescue, police say the driver was conscious but not responsive, so they had to cut the driver's seat belt and pull him out of the burning pickup truck until paramedics could   arrive.

"I don't think he would have been able to breathe in the car much longer due to the amount of smoke," Euclid Police Officer Cory Screngi said.

Many are calling these three police officers heroes, especially when you see the video and the officers in action.

"It's one of those things you don't think about it when you are doing it but you sit back after and go wow that could have been a lot worse or gone a different way," Euclid Police Officer Jose Alcantara

"I wouldn't consider myself a hero it's our job and i'm sure that any of us anywhere would do the same to save a person's life regardless of the situation," Beese said.

The officers were able to get the action-packed video because Officer Beese was wearing an OBRS -- an on-body recording system which he says is crucial in police work.

"I want people to be able to see from vantage point what I can see because most of what we do is judged based what we know at the time of an incident," Beese said.
