Namaste Calm: Lululemon customers do not have to bend over

(WITI) -- Athletic apparel store Lululemon says customers DO NOT have to demonstrate the sheerness of their yoga pants in order to receive a refund. This, after some yoga pants were recalled for being too sheer.

In a statement on its website, Lululemon says: "Some of our bottoms were made with a batch of black luon that doesn’t meet our standards so we’ve pulled them from our floors and our website.  We have determined that certain shipments of product received from our factories and available in store on March 1, 2013, do not meet our technical specifications. On the weekend of March 16, 2013, we pulled all of the affected black luon women’s bottoms from our stores, showrooms and e-commerce site and are working with our supplier to replace the fabric and our other manufacturers to replace these key items as quickly as possible."

News that the store was requiring customers to bend over and "prove" the sheerness of their yoga pants has been spreading around the internet and has even appeared on the news. But FOX6 News has learned Lululemon does NOT require proof in order for customers to receive a refund.

Last week - some of the company's $98 black "Luon" yoga pants were pulled off store shelves -- because they were too sheer.

"I have several pairs and I think they're great. Fortunately I don't own any of the ones that are sheer," Kate Fennell said.

It has been reported that in a call to investors this week - Lululemon CEO Christine Day explained the bending-over test, saying Luon fabric quote "has to be engaged in a four-way stretch for the sheerness to appear. It's a pretty complex thing to test for."

The chief financial officer for Lululemon says this sheerness issue could cost the company roughly $60 million in revenue this year.
