Officials release theft from vehicle prevention tips

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Due to a recent increase in theft from vehicles and theft of license plates, police from District 2 have released a list of theft prevention tips for motorists.

To reduce the likelihood of having your vehicle broken into,  officials advise motorists to remove any property from within their vehicle and lock it in the trunk or take it with them.

Remember that property left in your vehicle, in plain view, increases the chances of an entry into your vehicle. Also, remember to lock all of your doors and keep your windows up when you leave your car unattended.

Additionally, consider purchasing anti-theft fasteners for your license plates to make
them more difficult to remove. Using these types of fasteners has proven to prevent license plates from being taken.
