Construction worker struck by concrete in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- South Shore fire officials say a man was injured on Monday, April 1st when he was struck by a piece of concrete.

It happened around 9:30 Monday morning.

The man was reportedly working on a street widening project, when he was struck by a piece of concrete used to fashion manhole covers.

Officials say the man was temporarily struck in the sewer ditch. The man apparently wasn't in the trench very deeply, and officials were able to get him out quickly.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
