Ugly 8th inning, Brewers fall to Pirates, 6-4
MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers were in position Wednesday afternoon to pull off a three game sweep of the Pirates. However, Pittsburgh broke through for four runs in the eighth inning and went on to hand Milwaukee a 6-4 defeat at Miller Park.
Carlos Gomez and Yuniesky Betancourt each continued his productive first month of the season. They hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning to give the Crew a 3-1 lead. However, Starling Marte came back with a two-run shot of his own in the top fo the eighth inning, to propel a four run outburst. After that, it was a matter of the Pirates trying to preserve the lead. By winning, Pittsburgh salvages something from its trip to Milwaukee, where the Pirates are 8-46 since 2007..
Next up, the Brewers host the Cardinals.
