Mother, 2 children seriously injured after truck slams into tree

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha police say two children and their 30-year-old mother suffered life threatening injuries when their truck lost control and crashed just before 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4th.

The accident happened in the 700 block of Main Street in Waukesha.

Officials say one child was transported via Flight for Life to Children's Hospital. A second child was also taken to Children's by ambulance. The mother was transported to Froedtert Hospital.

"She was going pretty fast and she was swerving. I thought she was going to take out the light pole," neighbor Bob Stark said.

"I heard a little crunch. I didn't know she clipped this black truck that was down there. She shot straight into the tree," Stark added.

Neighbors say at least one of the children was in a car seat at the time of the crash.

"She was screaming my kid, my kid, my kid," Carlos Cindron said.

Neighbors told FOX6 News this is not the first crash on the block. They say several accidents have taken out light poles, trees and parked cars in the past.

"People are not slowing down and I've had it up to here with it," Stark said.

Waukesha police say accident reconstruction specialists and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division were called in to investigate the crash scene. There is no word yet as to what caused the mother to lose control of her car.
