Police chase that began in Illinois ends in Racine Co.

RACINE CO. (WITI) -- A police chase that started in Elgin, Illinois ended in Racine County and two people were taken into custody.

Elgin police say they spotted the suspects around 2:30 Saturday morning leaving a Sam's Club that was burglarized a few minutes before.

As the men got into a pickup truck and drove off, they allegedly hit two officers. Police say they chased the suspects at speeds of up to 90 miles an hour through the northwest suburbs, into Chicago and then north to Racine County.

The Wisconsin State Patrol got a call from Illinois State Police that they were pursing a gray SUV.

A Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper was behind the vehicle which was traveling northbound on I-94 just over the Illinois-Wisconsin border. That trooper, along with the Kenosha County Sheriff, attempted to stop the vehicle in Kenosha County. But the vehicle continued traveling northbound into Racine County.

In Racine County, Sheriff's deputies deployed spikes and struck the vehicle’s front tire which caused the vehicle to stop at State Highway 11.
