Officials investigate house fire in Sheboygan Falls

SHEBOYGAN FALLS (WITI) -- Fire officials responded to the scene of a house fire in Sheboygan Falls Thursday morning, May 9th after an officer observed black smoke.

According to officials, a Sheboygan Falls officer observed black smoke coming from an area in the 700 block of Chicago Street around 8:25 a.m. When the officer approached the area he observed a man knocking on the front door of the house. The man informed the officer he thought the home was on fire.

At that time, the officer observed the south east corner of the home to be on fire with active flames showing and heavy black smoke.  Officer Smith advised the dispatch center that the Fire Department was needed for the fire.

The City of Sheboygan Falls Fire Department were on scene within five minutes of the initial dispatch and called for the assistance of the Kohler and Town of Sheboygan Falls Fire Departments, the Sheboygan County Fire Investigation Unit  as well as Cedar Grove First Responders and Orange Cross Ambulance.

The fire was under control and extinguished by approximately 9:00 a.m. and all residents were able to exit the home safely.

The house sustained severe and extensive damage.  Monetary loss has not yet been calculated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
