Lawmakers okay tax exemption for those who die in combat zone

MADISON (WITI) -- The Wisconsin Senate and Assembly unanimously passed on Tuesday, May 14th a bill that would allow for an income tax exemption for individuals who die in a combat zone.

The bill was passed with the amendment that would extend the income tax exemption to individuals who died outside of a combat zone as a result of wounds, disease, or injury incurred while serving in a combat zone.

The bill now heads to Gov. Scott Walker's desk to be signed into law.
