Kenosha man dies after crashing vehicle while fleeing officer

KENOSHA (WITI) --  A 28-year-old man from Kenosha died Tuesday, June 11th after crashing his vehicle while fleeing from an officer on 30th Avenue just south of 52nd Street in Kenosha.

According to police, an officer with the Kenosha Police Department conducted a traffic stop around 2 a.m. on a vehicle for violation of a traffic control signal.

During the traffic stop, the driver fled the scene, traveling southbound on 30th Avenue at a high rate of speed. According to officials, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a traffic standard near 30th Avenue and Roosevelt.

After striking a traffic standard the driver continued southbound on 30th Avenue, where he struck a wooden utility pool and traveled through several residential yards before coming to a stop.

The driver was transported to the hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.

"It was mass destruction. That's all I can say. What it looked like was mass destruction," Christy Inostroza said.

The crash ended in Inostroza's front yard.

"It's just unbelievable what happened last night.  I still have not gone to sleep. They worked really hard to get that man out of the car as fast as they could and as safely as they could. To end his life in such a senseless matter is beyond me," Inostroza said.
