Figaro, Brewers sink Marlins 10-1

MIAMI -- Pitcher Alfredo Figaro made a strong bid to stay in the starting rotation as the Milwaukee Brewers reeled in the Miami Marlins 10-1 Wednesday night in Florida.
Figaro threw 7 shutout innings, allowing just 3 hits; he struck out 4 and didn't walk anybody while retiring 17 straight batters at one point.
He was staked to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, courtesy of a Jonathan Lucroy bases-loaded triple.
Carlos Gomez continued to show why he deserves a spot on the All-Star team with 4 hits, including a team record-tying two triples.
One of the three-baggers scored 3 more runs; Gomez himself crossed the plate on an errant throw.

Ryan Braun sat out his 3rd straight game with the sore thumb.
Putting the slugger on the disabled list is an option, if the thumb doesn't get better by the weekend.
The Crew enjoy an off day Thursday, before playing a weekend series in Cincinnati.
