Beyond the Game: Kathy's House in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- SportsIllustrated.com's Jeff Pearlman once wrote that with all the talk of the greatest Packers gunslingers, none of it will be about Lynn Dickey -- arguably the most physically gifted of them all. From 1976 through 1985, he was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise horrific era in Green Bay football. Lynn Dickey was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

In April, Dickey was in the right place at the right time -- making an appearance at the Wisconsin Club for a gala to raise funds to benefit a special place, known as Kathy's House.

Kathy's House is the only hospital hospitality house in Milwaukee that serves patients of all ages and their families.

Located in a beautiful, serene neighborhood about a mile from Froedtert Hospital and Children's Hospital on North 103rd Street in Milwaukee, Kathy's House is a home away from home.

Kathy's House was founded in memory of Kathy Kuettner. A mother of three, Kuettner died on July 4th, 2000 at the age of 39, after a long battle with cancer.

One year later, her family and friends opened the doors to Kathy's House in her honor.

Kathy may be gone, but her soul and her spirit fill the house which serves so many in her name.

Guests at Kathy's House are not charged. However, donations are accepted.

The average donation is less than half the cost, but friends and the community have come together to keep Kathy's House open.
