West Allis police use taser on drunk man with gun

WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- West Allis police say a 33-year-old man they believe was drunk had to be tased on Sunday, June 30th.

West Allis police say they responded to a call of a person in a tavern in the 1900 block of S. 68th Street with a handgun.

Officers discovered the man, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol had come to the tavern with a handgun, asking where his wife was. Employees and patrons informed him she was not there and the man left the establishment prior to officers' arrival.

Officers determined the suspect was in a residence down the street from the tavern and made verbal contact with him. Officers negotiated with the suspect and he eventually came outside unarmed to meet with officers.

Police say once outside, the suspect refused to follow directions provided to take him into custody and an electronic control device (Taser) was deployed to gain compliance and take him into custody.

Detectives located a person identified as the suspect’s spouse he was looking for and are
investigating all aspects of this situation to determine the extent of charges that will be
sought through the District Attorney’s Office.
