Police respond to large fight near 36th and Locust in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Milwaukee police sergeant says officers responded to a large fight that broke out near 36th and Locust Thursday afternoon, July 11th.

It apparently started early Thursday morning, and was diffused, and then, the fight broke out again Thursday afternoon, according to neighbors.

Neighbors say it was a feud over a broken window that led to a morning of arguing. By 11:00 a.m., two houses full of people were throwing punches.

Police say it was a group of about 50-60 people, described by neighbors as a mob of teens.

The fight was diffused, but then escalated again Thursday afternoon. That's when shots were fired, and a 17-year-old girl was injured.

Neighbors say the mob showed blatant disregard for authority. The afternoon violence broke out with three cops still positioned on the street.

Police continue to investigate.
