Thousands turn out for annual Packers shareholders meeting

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- Sunny skies welcomed roughly 13,000 Green Bay Packers fans at the annual shareholders meeting at Lambeau Field on Wednesday, July 24th.

Tiffany Gardner purchased her first Packers share just months ago. She says she didn't know what to expect from the series of speeches given by the Packers' brass.

"It's hard to believe, you know, that I'm actually a part of it -- and have something to do with this," said Gardner.

Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy shared some of the previous season's earnings statistics and talked about improvements. Among them, the new south end zone seating area at Lambeau Field.

Green Bay Packers Inc., has been a publicly owned, nonprofit corporation since Aug. 18, 1923, when original articles of incorporation were filed with Wisconsin’s secretary of state. Fans have supported the team financially through five stock sales: 1923, 1935, 1950, 1997 and 2011.
