53-year-old Franklin woman dies after motorcycle struck by car

FRANKLIN (WITI) -- A 53-year-old Franklin woman was killed when the motorcycle she was a passenger on was struck in the rear by another vehicle on Sunday, July 28th.

It happened just before 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of S. North Cape Road and W. Forest Home Avenue in Franklin.

The motorcycle was driven by the woman's husband, a 57-year-old Franklin man.

Officials say the motorcycle was facing east on S. North Cape at the intersection, waiting to turn left when it was struck by a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old Franklin woman.

Both of the motorcycle riders were transported to Froedtert Hospital, where the woman later died.

The woman's husband was treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the striking vehicle was not injured.

Officials in Franklin continue to investigate, and say both motorcycle riders were wearing helmets.

Speed and alcohol are not being considered as contributing factors.
