North Shore Fire officials respond to Glendale house fire

GLENDALE (WITI) -- North Shore Fire officials on Sunday morning, July 28th responded to a house fire on Bender Road.

Upon their arrival at the scene, crews found heavy smoke coming from the first floor of the home.

Crews were able to quickly locate the fire, and bring it under control.

Fire crews had difficulty accessing all areas of the structure due to the heavy fire load.

Officials say a resident was able to safely evacuate the home, but two pets were killed in the fire. The resident was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Fire crews say the fire was confined to the first floor, but there was extensive smoke damage to the entire home.

Damage estimates are around $35,000.

Officials believe the origin of the fire was a first floor living room. The cause of hte fire remains under investigation.

No working smoke detectors were located inside the home.
