MILWAUKEE (WITI) — At the start of this year, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke ordered an aggressive weekend Driving Under the Influence (DUI) initiative to rid the Milwaukee County freeway system of drunken drivers.

This weekend’s initiative from Friday, July 26th at 4:00 p.m. through Sunday, July 28th at 6:00 a.m. resulted in the arrest of seven drunken drivers.  The average PAC of these offenders was .13.

On Sunday, at 3:48 a.m., a 911 caller indicated he had been in a crash and was in a ditch off US-45 northbound and Burleigh Street and needed medical help.  Deputies located the vehicle at 3:52 a.m. in the parking lot at 11300 W. Burleigh Street.  Two subjects were on the ground outside a severely damaged vehicle.  The Wauwatosa Fire Department also responded to the scene.
