Police investigate arson, believe it’s connected to shooting

MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee police are investigating a fire that broke out in the 2900 block of N. 12th Street Sunday night, July 28th. Police say they are investigating the incident as an arson and believe it is connected to a fatal shooting that occurred Friday night, July 26th.

According to police, a 14-year-old boy was killed after shots were fired into a crowd during a large fight in the 2900 block of N. 12th Street just before midnight. Three others were also struck by gunfire. Police say a 17-year-old boy suffered a minor gunshot wound, and two others, a 15-year-old boy and a 22-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries but are expected to survive.

Police say a 23-year-old Milwaukee man has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting incident, but no suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the arson.
