33-year-old man in custody following Elm Grove tactical

ELM GROVE (WITI) -- 33-year-old Scott Dummert of Elm Grove was taken into custody following a tactical situation that occurred in the 600 block of Dunleith Circle on Thursday, August 8th.

Officials responded to the scene, seeking a suspect in a domestic incident that had occurred earlier in the day.

According to officials, Dummert refused to exit the residence to speak with officers -- and began walking in front of windows brandishing a large knife.

Dummert also started a fire in the residence, that activated fire alarms within the four-plex unit, according to officials.

The residence was evacuated.

Tactical officers eventually made access to the second-floor unit, at which point Dummert exited a second-floor window. He was later taken into custody, just before 6:30 p.m.

He suffered minor injuries, and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Dummert faces charges through the City of Brookfield Police Department, related to their domestic incident. Dummert is also being charged through the Elm Grove Police Department, for failure to comply with an officer’s attempt to take person into custody, while armed with a dangerous weapon, and will be held at the Waukesha County Jail facility until his initial court appearance.
