Milwaukee man charged following death of seven-month-old son

Deron Love

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 26-year-old Deron Love of Milwaukee is facing one count of physical abuse of a child and one count of child neglect in connection with the death of his seven-month-old son on August, 17th.

According to the criminal complaint, the seven-month-old boy died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. The complaint indicates the boy suffered subdural hemorrhages of two different densities.

Police believe the boy sustained the blunt force trauma to the head at a residence in the 3300 block of N. 28th Street on August 13th.

According to the criminal complaint, Love told police that the seven-month-old boy sustained the injuries after he fell from the couch. However, the doctor evaluating the boy indicates that a fall from a couch would not be sufficient force to cause the injuries that were sustained.

According to criminal complaint, the type of bleeding on the brain is consistent with either severe impact to the head or violent shaking of the head.

If convicted, Love could face up to $50,000 in fines and up to 15 years in prison.
