Hotel rooms for Harley-Davidson 110th may be available

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- People from all over the globe will be descending on Milwaukee for the biggest party of the summer, Harley-Davidson's 110th Anniversary -- and hotel rooms are hard to come by.

President and CEO of the Wisconsin Hotel and Lodging Association, Trisha Pugal, says while finding a place to stay may be difficult, procrastinators could be in luck.

"A lot of the availability came around when some of the larger blocks, people would block a group of rooms, and as it got closer their numbers weren't exactly what they thought," explained Pugal.

Several groups overbooked rooms at various hotels across southeastern Wisconsin, and those who missed out on booking earlier, now get their chance.

"They are very fortunate because some of the rooms were released, otherwise they wouldn't have had an opportunity," Pugal said.

The number of available rooms changes daily, even hourly, in some cases. Rates are set by each property and visitors will usually pay more to stay in Milwaukee.

"This gives us an opportunity to say 'welcome, we do have availability.' You have a lot of choices, but on the other hand, we also recommend that they don't wait until later next week because at that point there might not be any," said Pugal.
