Harley-Davidson offers special app for 110th Anniversary

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Getting the word out about the Harley-Davidson 110th Anniversary Celebration has never been easier! For the first time, there's an app for that!

As bikers filter into the city for the 110th celebration, a new tool will help them to know where they're going and what's being offered -- an app that can be accessed via a smartphone.

"What we’ve done over the past several months is brainstorm to what we thought guests would want to know. And a lot of that came from us asking those very questions. What’s going on with this? Let’s find the answer and get it in the app," Harley-Davidson Corporate Communications Director Maripat Blankenheim said.

The app offers the opportunity to view the events schedule, the artist and when and where they're performing, information about venues and the Harley Owners Group's 30th anniversary celebration -- to name a few.

"The beauty of having an app as social media is we can continue to add to it every day, so as things come up, whether it’s things going on at the sites or for information -- we can upload it all the time. In fact, you’ll notice that we have a crawl at the bottom. That’s real time," Blankenheim said.

The app offers real time traffic alerts, weather information and schedule changes -- and the information is available in Milwaukee and around the world.

“You don’t have to be here and get a program as you walk in the door," Blankenheim said.

Additionally, the app offers links to Facebook, Twitter and a few ways to post pictures.

"We will also have an active social media team that will be posting to Twitter and Facebook throughout the course of the event," Blankenheim said.

The app can be downloaded by searching "Harley 110" in your smartphone's app store. The app is free.
