Harley dealerships in Racine, Kenosha gearing up for 110th

RACINE/KENOSHA (WITI) -- The staging for Harley-Davidson's 110th anniversary on a major city thoroughfare is nothing short of a massive undertaking! FOX6 News visited Harley dealerships in Racine and Kenosha -- places riders may stop on their route into Milwaukee for the big party!

Uke's Harley-Davidson in Kenosha has permission to close Frontage Road in front of the dealership to build its party -- a party that will include music, food and a stunt show with a lot of community involvement.

"We're kicking off (Tuesday). We're open from eight to eight. We have our Rotary Kiwanis operating our beer tent in front. We have a food court. Sommers Fire Department is running our peanut bar. Our Boys & Girls Club is selling popcorn peanuts, little shell necklaces,"

Riders are already starting to show up. FOX6 caught up with some riders from Finland who stopped by Uke's this weekend.

"The European people come earlier because they make it a big holiday. They like to take holidays anyway. Two weeks, three weeks. Fly to L.A. or New York and rent a bike and ride here,"

Uke's fleet of rental bikes is already out as early tourists come to check out the area.

Joanne Westcott rode to Wisconsin from New York to meet her friends from Florida.

"We wanted to travel around Wisconsin  We're going to go up to Green Bay and see the sights," Westcott said.

Meanwhile, the Racine Harley-Davidson dealership is gearing up to be an entertainment and food haven -- complete with an Elvis tribute show, for riders who may want to escape the Milwaukee crowds for awhile.

A cross country ride will have Racine as a destination.

"Upwards of one thousand people from the Hotbike Ride. We are the official registration stop for the Hotbike Power Tour. We'll have riders who are going to start coming in Wednesday.

The bikers trickling in Monday will build until the official anniversary begins in Milwaukee on Thursday night.
