Kansas City Chiefs defeat Packers in final preseason game, 30-8

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- The Green Bay Packers were on the road Thursday, August 29th for the team's last preseason matchup -- taking on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The Packers lost the preseason finale Thursday, night 30-8.

The Packers offense failed to score a single touchdown vs the Chiefs, and to make matters worse, the team only scored 2 total touchdowns in the four preseason games.

The Green Bay Packers finish the preseason with a 1-3 record.

This was the fourth consecutive year that the Packers and the Chiefs have met in the preseason finale. Through 2009, for eight seasons, the Packers faced the Tennessee Titans in the final preseason game each year.

Green Bay has won the last two preseason meetings with the Chiefs.

For Head Coach Mike McCarthy, it was a matchup against the team where his NFL coaching career started.

McCarthy spent six seasons on the Chiefs’ staff beginning in 1993 -- the first two as an offensive assistant/quality control coach and the final four as the quarterbacks coach. Thursday night will be the sixth time McCarthy has coached against Kansas City since taking over as head coach of Green Bay in 2006.

Additionally, Chiefs coach Andy Reid faced off against his former team. This is his first year serving as the Chiefs head coach, after having served seven seasons on the Packers staff, leaving in 1998. He then spent 14 seasons as the Philadelphia Eagles head coach.

The Packers and the Chiefs last met in the regular season on December 18th of 2011 at Arrowhead Stadium, when the Chiefs won 19-14.

The last meeting in the preseason was last August 30th at Lambeau Field, where the Packers won 24-3.

During that game, QB Graham Harrell completed 13 of 15 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns for a perfect 158.3 passer rating.

Following Thursday night's game, the Packers must reduce their roster down to 53 players by Saturday.
