76-year-old woman checks Harley celebration off bucket list

GREENFIELD (WITI) -- A love for Harley-Davidson is usually passed down from one generation to the next, and for the Kurecz family from Pennsylvania, it's no different.

"I actually bought my first Harley when I was in high school," said John Kurecz. "My grandfather had a motorcycle and my uncles, my great uncles."

Kurecz felt it would be fitting to bring his mother, 76-year-old Doris Kurecz, to the 110th Anniversary celebration. Doris has been riding Harleys her whole life, starting with rides on the back of her father's bike.

"He had Betty Boop painted on his, my father did," said Doris.

"She used to go for rides with her dad and she still goes for rides with me," said Kurecz.

The mother and son took their appreciation for Harley history to the Harley Museum on Friday, August 30th. Doris got a photo with a bike from 1936 -- the same year she was born.

Given the family love of Harley-Davidson, Kurecz's fiance, MaryElizabeth, had to learn to love the bikes, too.

"She only let me take her in circles in the parking lot, but now I actually take her places on the highway so that's a big improvement," said Kurecz.

The three say this family trip is likely the beginning of many more to come.

"It's sort of a bucket list. I'm not sure all of it's her bucket list, but it's someone's bucket list," said Kurecz.

The Kurecz family also plans on rocking out to Aerosmith and Kid Rock this weekend.
