Brewers avoid 6 game home sweep with win over Pittsburgh

MILWAUKEE (WITI)-- The Brewers were on a mission to avoid a 6 game home stand sweep Friday night against the Pirates, who beat the Crew 4-3 Thursday.

The Crew got it going in the bottom of the 2nd when they were down 1-0, Rookie Khris Davis hit a 2 run bomb to left center making it 2-1 Crew.

But Pittsburgh would battle back and tie it in the top of the 3rd with a Marlon Byrd RBI single.

This is where the Crew's fire ignited and the rally began in the bottom of the 3rd with a RBI Jonathan Lucroy ground rule double. Add a 2 run Aramis Ramirez double, an RBI from a Fielder's Choice and another from a wild pitch and the Crew lead 7-2 in the bottom of the 3rd.

Pirates Andrew McCutchen tried for a comeback with a homer in the 5th but the Crew's 2 more insurance runs got them the 9-3 win, avoiding the 6 game home stand sweep.

Wily Peralta picked up his 9th win of the season going 6 innings pitched allowing 3 earned runs.
