Man arrested for buying marijuana from CA, distributing in Racine

RACINE (WITI) -- Detectives from the Milwaukee Police Department investigated a parcel package on July 18th with several indicators commonly used by drug traffickers. A certified drug-sniffing dog also alerted authorities to the package.

The package was addressed to "Justin Powell" of Racine, WI.

After obtaining a search warrant, detectives opened to package to find two vacuum sealed bags of high grade marijuana. The contents tested positive for THC with a combined weight of 1,016 grams.

Authorities visited the address on the package and spoke with Nico Vallin who confessed to receiving three previous shipments of marijuana over the last several months.

Vallin told police he met another man over an Xbox video game and had sent approximately $10,000 to California in return for the drugs. The suspect also confessed to selling the marijuana to approximately six to eight individuals in the Racine area.

A text message conversation between Vallin and the sender of the packages shows the sender threatening to send people to Vallin's home, assuming the latest package had been stolen.

Vallin had been released from police custody just a month earlier on a signature bond. A condition of the bond was that Vallin was to engage in no new criminal activity.

Vallin is being charged with conspiracy to deliver THC and felony bail jumping.
