Project to light up St. Josaphat Basilica to begin soon

Representation of future lighting at Basilica portico

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A project to light up St. Josaphat Basilica on Milwaukee's south side is about to get underway.

Right now, the Basilica sits dark at night. However, starting the week of September 23rd, a $230,000 lighting project gets underway to illuminate the bell tower and portico.

Over the course of the next month, 103 LED lanterns and lights will be installed.  This lighting project will lead into an eventual $500,000 project to light the Basilica's dome.

Drivers should take note -- one eastbound lane of Lincoln Avenue will be closed for part of the installation.
