Police search for suspect in robbery of convenience store

WAUKESHA CO. (WITI) -- Waukesha County investigators are searching for a suspect who robbed Dottie's Convenience Store in the Town of Merton early Monday, September 30th.

Officers from Chenequa, Oconomowoc and the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department responded to the store around 6:15 a.m. Monday to a report of an armed robbery.

The suspect was described as a male, approximately six feet tall with a thin build wearing a gray knit mask, ski goggles and possibly a dark-colored jacket or sweatshirt.  A shotgun was displayed at the scene and the suspect left with cash from the drawer as well as several packs of cigarettes he put in a black duffle bag.  The suspect fled the area on foot and there is no vehicle information.

The clerk was the only person in the store at the time of the robbery. She was not hurt.

A search of the area was completed -- and there is no reason to believe the suspect stayed in the area.

If anyone has any information or observed anything suspicious in the area at the time, they're urged to call the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department at 262-548-7122.
