Public meetings set for Zoo Interchange project in Milwaukee County

MILWAUKEE CO. (WITI) -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southeast Region in Waukesha is announcing a set of public information meetings to discuss the reconstruction of the Zoo Interchange.

The meetings will follow an informal open house format and the project team will be available to answer questions and address concerns relating to the project.

The public is encouraged to attend the meetings, provide input and ask questions concerning the project. The meetings will be held on two nights with the same information available each night.

The meeting details are as follows:

Tuesday, October 1st (4 p.m. - 7 p.m.)


    Thursday, October 3rd (4 p.m. - 7 p.m.)


      The scope of work includes reconstructing nine miles of freeway and over 66 structures in Milwaukee County. This project will address the severe traffic congestion in the area, the crumbling infrastructure and the outdated design of the freeway. In addition to the core of the interchange, six service interchanges and three major arterials are being reconstructed. The meeting will feature information about the work starting in the fall of 2013 and projects planned through 2018.
