Five-year-old killed in Kenosha crash that may have involved alcohol

KENOSHA (WITI) -- Kenosha County Sheriff's officials say a five-year-old boy died Tuesday evening, October 8th as a result of a crash that may have involved drunk driving.

The two-vehicle rollover crash occurred at 12th Street and 72nd Avenue in the Town of Somers around 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Officials say a van traveling north on 72nd Ave. disregarded a stop sign and struck a van traveling east on 12th Street.

It is believed the driver of the van with the five-year-old boy inside was the parent of the child killed in the crash.

Officials say the child was in a child safety seat in the rear of the van at the time of the crash.

The driver of the striking van was a man who was taken to the hospital with injuries. Officials say it appears alcohol was a factor in the crash.
