One dead following house fire in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- A man is dead following a house fire that occurred in Mount Pleasant early Thursday morning, November 21st.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department along with the South Shore Fire Department responded to a home on Timmer Lane around 1:48 a.m.

"The home was fully engulfed," Mount Pleasant Police Chief Tim Zarzecki said.

Due to structural damage to the home, entry could not be made. However, a body could be seen lying on the basement floor.

The individual found dead has been identified as Dennis Radford.

Neighbors tell FOX6 News the home had been foreclosed upon, but the man was still living there.

"We've heard rumor of that, but again, we're still investigating," Zarzecki said.

Investigators from the Mount Pleasant Police Department and South Shore Fire Department are continuing their investigation.

"We have asked and solicited the help of DCI and also the Racine County Arson Task Force," Zarzecki said.

As of right now, Zarzecki says this remains a death investigation.
