Milwaukee bus tour stops at seven different bakeries

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Christmas Around Milwaukee Bakery Bus Tour departed from downtown Milwaukee Saturday morning, November 30th. The three-hour tour features stops at bakeries throughout the area while participants enjoy stories of ethnic holiday traditions between stops.

Milwaukee Food and City Tour guide, Robert Hurst, says he can't get enough of the looks of people's faces during the tour.

"Everyone has such a great time. Everyone's in a festive mood. They're wearing their ugly Christmas sweaters, we have people with light-up necklaces on the tours," said Hurst. "You should bring a grocery bag, because we give you so many cookies, so much food, it's unbelievable."

There are 15 different-themed tours to choose from, but riders on Saturday were in the mood for sampling some of the best treats the bakeries had to offer.

"We're going to hit seven ethnic bakeries and locations along the way so I'm looking forward to hearing about the history, learning a little bit about the products that they serve and definitely taste-testing," said Andrea Brinkman.

The Peter Sciortino Bakery is the last stop on the tour. Co-owner Maria Sali says she enjoys being the ride's final destination.

"When customers come here we want to make sure that they leave happy," said Sali. "They get a smell and taste of Peter Sciortino Bakery and hopefully that'll reel them in."

Sali says the Peter Sciortino Bakery ships all over the world.
