One Zoo Interchange off ramp closes, another opens in coming days

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- There are plenty of changes coming to the Zoo Interchange in the next few days.

There is a new eastbound off ramp on 76th Street -- due to the closed eastbound off ramp to 84th Street.

"We did that to maintain access to the general area in West Allis. We also did that because we have to put four ten-foot diameter pipes that we have to put underneath I-94 without taking I-94 out of service," Zoo Interchange Construction Manager Mike Burns said.

The 84th Street off ramp should be back open in mid-March.

There will also be some full freeway closures this week.

From 11:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. on Thursday (December 5th), Friday (December 6th), Monday (December 9th) and Tuesday (December 10th) the freeway by Highway 100 will be closed.

Crews will be demolishing the northbound bridge on Highway 100.

When the work is complete there will be two lanes of traffic operating in both directions.

Both the northbound and southbound traffic will be on the southbound bridge span over I-94. This will also require the closure of the off ramp from I-94 to SB WIS 100. This closure will be a long term closure as work continues with the construction of a new Interchange at WIS 100.
