Body found in Kenosha home after day-long standoff ends



KENOSHA (WITI) -- Officials in Kenosha said on Wednesday afternoon, December 4th a standoff situation beginning early Wednesday morning came to an end. Officials say a man is in police custody, and a woman is dead.

Kenosha police were called to the scene of 20th and 57th around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 4th for reports of a possible shooting inside a home. Officials say the suspect's brother called 911, saying the suspect apparently told his brother about the shooting and a victim.

Earlier in the day, officials were able to get one person out of the home, but the suspect continued to refuse to come out.

Officials say pepper spray devices were set off earlier in the afternoon in another attempt to get the suspect out of the home, but that did not produce desired results.

Officials also tried using a robot -- and worked to keep neighbors inside their homes.

Around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, officials set off an explosive breach which forced the suspect out of the home. He was taken into custody.

Law enforcement officials have confirmed with FOX6 News the body of a female was found in the basement of the home after the suspect was taken into custody. That woman was found dead as a result of a gunshot wound.

Officials believe everyone involved in Wednesday's incident lived inside the home.

A law enforcement official told FOX6 News he believes the suspect and victim were involved in a domestic relationship.

A shotgun was recovered from the home.
