MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Officials with Milwaukee’s DPW say there will be over 150 pieces of equipment on the streets Sunday night, December 8th to get things cleaned up after Sunday’s snowfall.

A spokesperson with Milwaukee DPW says at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, DPW put out 107 salt trucks.

Trucks first focused on city streets, and then moved on to main thoroughfares.

A DPW spokesperson says as of 10:00 p.m. Sunday, 60 plows will be added to the streets. Plows will be affixed to the recycling truck fleet.

DPW says there will be 167 pieces of equipment on the streets Sunday night.

Due to the use of the recycling vehicles as plows, recycling routes will not be serviced on Monday morning.

A DPW spokesperson says cheese brine was spread on the roadways in Bay View on Sunday. DPW officials are monitoring that effort and will take input from residents in the area.

A DPW spokesperson says it is too early to determine the impact of the cheese brine at this point.
