Pabst Mansion plays host to annual "Grand Avenue Christmas Display"

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee's Pabst Mansion this holiday season is home to the annual "Grand Avenue Christmas Display."

"The mansion is one of the finest examples of Victorian-Flemish renaissance style of a mansion in America," Tiwana Ward, the Director of Visitor Services at the Pabst Mansion said.

The "Grand Avenue Christmas Display" offers self-guided tours of the historic Pabst Mansion.

"Our documents are here. They’ll give you tons of information to get you started. You’ll get a brochure. We do it that way, during the holiday season, so that the guests can spend as much time, or as little time in either of the rooms as they like," Ward said.

The rooms include those on the mansion's first and second floors, where volunteers have been given a room or two to decorate.

The "Music Room Display" includes toys children actually played with during the late 1800s through the 1930s.

"The Pabst Mansion is a treasure," Barb Saeman said.

Saeman said she was particularly taken by the Ladies' Parlor, with its powder-like colors and white flocked tree.

"This room is just very, very feminine but—decorated for the holidays—it’s a ‘Wow!’ It’s definitely a ‘Wow!’" Saeman said.

The holiday display remains in place through January 5th.

Meanwhile, the annual "Dickens Dinners at the Pabst" which celebrates Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" are also being offered on select dates through December 22nd.
