Milwaukee Bucks' Forward Caron Butler named Team Captain

MILWAUKEE (WITI) - Milwaukee Bucks Forward Caron Butler's coaches and teammates have made it clear that the two-time NBA All-Star is a valuable member of the organization.

Bucks' coaches named the 12-year veteran team captain on Monday, December 9th, just 20 games into his Bucks career. With a roster featuring five players who are 22-years-old or younger, Butler's voice and leadership capabilities have resonated within the team.

"When Caron speaks, they listen," said Bucks head coach Larry Drew Monday in an interview with the Racine Journal Times. "I need a guy like him who commands respect in the locker room, out on the floor, during timeouts, in the huddle. I need that person."

In addition to that honor bestowed on him by the coaches, Butler was elected by his teammates as their National Basketball Players Association team representative. Rookie guard Nate Wolters was elected as the alternate.

Butler joins notable names such as Rajon Rondo, Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook as Players Association representatives.

"It's an honor to represent my teammates and all the players in the league in this role," said Butler. "I'm looking forward to talking with other player reps and engaging in discussions about improving the league."

Although he is out with a knee injury, Butler hopes to be back on the court soon, but in the meantime he will be busy steering this team with his leadership off the court.

"It's important for me to set a good example and help guide these young players through the season," said Butler.
