MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Walgreens will be open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to help shoppers pick up any last-minute items.

Below is a list of their holiday hours:

  • Through Dec. 23, Walgreens stores will be open until midnight.
  • On Christmas Eve, all stores will be open until midnight.  Pharmacies will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and 24 hour stores are always open.
  • On Christmas Day, non-24-hour stores will be open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.  Select pharmacies will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and 24-hour stores and pharmacies are always open

Milwaukee's Brady Street Walgreens location is one of 8,000 stores open nationwide on December 25th.

So what could people possibly need on Christmas Day?

"All kinds of things -- last-minute gifts, believe it or not, and we have a lot of people coming in for groceries, because there are no other grocery stores open," Walgreens Manager Kristy Rummel said.

Mary Eldridge was one such customer trying to fill a quick grocery list.

"My daughter needed some milk and we are looking for some ham and rolls or something good to eat," Eldridge said.

If the family doesn't open gifts until later on Christmas Day -- that leaves plenty of time for folks to flock to Walgreens to find Christmas Day deals.

"Just trying to get some last minute things, trying to find something for the kids," Paul Smith said.

Walgreens is also open for emergencies.

Michael Casper was set to host a "Friends Christmas" -- but his morning was fraught with crisis.

"Was pouring the coffee and dropped the pot, so I had to get a new one," Casper said.

And for that, Walgreens was there.

"A lot of people have been thanking me for being here. They are very cheerful, in the Christmas spirit I guess," Walgreens clerk Katelyn Shulfer said.

Walgreens pharmacies are also staffed in case folks need to fill a prescription.
