Belt buckle saves man from serious injury after being shot

FOND DU LAC (WITI) -- A 30-year-old Fond du Lac man was spared serious injury after he was shot Saturday, December 28th when the round fired at him struck his belt buckle.

Fond du Lac police officers responded to the area near Main and 2nd Streets for reports of multiple shots fired just after 2:30 a.m. Officers patrolling the area were on the scene immediately and were able to pursue and apprehend two suspects fleeing on foot.

Officers were able to determine that four shots were fired in total.

A 34-year-old Fond du Lac man is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail in connection with the shooting. The second suspect, a 19-year-old man, was released from custody after being questioned.

Police are trying to determine what led up to the altercation. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
