Gov. Walker to view progress of Leo Frigo Bridge repairs

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- Gov. Scott Walker is scheduled to view the progress of repairs being made to Green Bay's Leo Frigo Bridge on Friday, January 3rd.

Gov. Walker approved $7.7 million to repair the bridge after one of its piers sank two feet on September 25th. That sinking pier caused the deck to sag and forced the closure of the bridge.

Plans called for new drilled shafts to be installed at the bases of the five piers, protected from the corrosive conditions that exist and connected to the pier footings. The deck at Pier 22 was to be jacked back into place and supports installed.

The bridge is expected to reopen sometime this month.
