Fire breaks out at home on N. 30th Street Wednesday night

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee fire crews on Wednesday night, January 22nd were on scene of a house fire in the 3100 block of N. 30th Street -- near 30th and Auer Ave.

Fire officials say the fire started in a 2.5-story home around 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, and was beginning to spread to an adjacent home when firefighters arrived on scene.

It appears to have started in a second floor bedroom.

Firefighters managed to stop the fire from spreading to the adjacent home, and were working to knock down the remainder of the fire.

We've learned seven people have been displaced (two adults, and five children).

There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. We're told the home sustained $60,000 worth of damage to the home, and $20,000 in damage to the home's contents.

The home the fire spread to sustained $10,000 in damage.

The Red Cross was on hand to assist those displaced.

Fire investigation units from MFD and MPD were called to the scene.
