Garbage, recycling collection suspended for most of Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Due to garbage and recycling drivers reassigned to plow residential streets overnight, most garbage and recycling carts will not be collected today.

Only residents on automated routes and those serviced by dumpster trucks will be collected today.  Full garbage and recycling collection will resume on Wednesday, February 19th.

Residents whose collection was suspended today should leave carts out at the collection point so they can be emptied on Wednesday.  For collection schedules, check the Department of Public Work’s website at city.milwaukee.gov/mpw or contact the Unified Call Center at (414) 286-CITY (2489).

A reminder that residents have 24 hours after snow stops falling to clear snow and ice from public sidewalks.  A path must also be cleared to enable access to garbage and recycling containers.
