Officers, public turn out to honor West Allis Det. Stacie Napoli

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A line of cars took over Lincoln Avenue on Monday morning, February 24th to pay tribute to a woman whose life was taken all too soon.

"It`s a well-deserved honor. It`s a heartbreaking time and to see everyone come out to support her family and pay their respects to her it`s huge," said Napoli's friend Heather Orlowski.

Stacie Napoli

39-year-old Stacie Napoli passed away on February 17th due to complications after giving birth to twins.

Napoli was a 17-year veteran of the West Allis Police Department and served in the military.

"It's just really been awesome to see the response from not only in West Allis but the other communities around here and just seeing everyone reunite together police and fire," said Lt. Dan Becker with the West Allis Fire Department.

Area fire departments flew a flag and stood at attention while Napoli's family, friends, and West Allis Police Officers drove in the procession to the cemetery.

"It`s a big tribute to the kind of person Stacie was, they all love her and miss her," said Orlowski.

It's a difficult goodbye for many, including Napoli's friend Heather Orlowski.

But Orlowski and Napoli's police family plans to do everything they can to help her husband and twin babies.

"They've been making big strides, so we`re proud of them, they have a good guardian angel," said Orlowski.

With the outpouring of support from the community, it's clear this angel will be missed.

West Allis Police Chief Charles Padgett issued the following statement on Monday:

"On behalf of the men and women of the West Allis Police Department, I would like to express our deep appreciation to all in the community who sent condolences, held and are holding fundraisers for Stacie’s family and offered support during this difficult time. I would also like to express our appreciation to the law enforcement agencies who assisted us through providing police service allowing our officers to attend the ceremony, conducted traffic control along the route, provided honor guard, and attended the services. There are so many who deserve our gratitude, we are extremely humbled and honored to work among such a fantastic group of law enforcement professionals and serve such a compassionate community."
