Admirals trainer reacts after Rich Peverley collapses on bench

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- An NHL player remains hospitalized after collapsing during a game on Monday night, March 10th.

Dallas player Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench Monday night after completing a short shift on the ice.

Peverley has a heart condition that has been known about for quite some time.

In fact, some of the Milwaukee Admirals were aware when Peverely played in Milwaukee.

A trainer with the Admirals who remembers Peverely spoke with FOX6 News about him on Tuesday.

"I heard once they hit him with the AED he woke up, was fine. He asked how much time was left in the first period. I think he expected to go back out there and finish the period," Doug Agnew said.

Dallas players and coaches were so shaken up, the game was postponed.

Peverely is going through tests to find out what triggered his cardiac event.

Agnew says he's thankful it happened on the ice, because trainers and doctors are right here to help.
