Get home safe on St. Patrick's Day with Miller Lite Free Rides

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It's their first St. Patrick's Day as 21 year olds, but Jessica Hitz and Jordyn Northrup are celebrating safely by taking the bus.

"So you aren`t a drunk driver and you don`t have to deal with drunk drivers on the road and it`s safer," said Hitz.

"It`s already warm when you get on, you don`t have to start up your car," said Northrup.

This St. Patrick's Day, MillerCoors and the Milwaukee County Transit System are teaming up once again to offer Miller Lite Free Rides.

"We know that drunk driving is completely preventable so we sponsor the Miller Lite Free Rides. We`re delighted to bring it back for the 21st year this year so that people can get home safely," said MillerCoors Responsibility Commerce Manager Diane Wagner.

Starting at 6:00 p.m., all of the buses are free until the end of regular service.

"We have lots of buses out, more than 30 buses out this evening starting at 6:00 p.m. and you take numerous buses get on and off as much as you`d like to get where you need to go," said Milwaukee County Transit System Spokesperson Jacqueline Janz.

Through the years, Miller Lite Free Rides have helped end many nights with only good memories.

"Over 750,000 people have taken advantage of the Free Rides Program right here in Milwaukee," said Wagner.

"They take the worry about getting pulled over out of it. You can go out and have a good time and all you have to do is find your nearest bus stop and then you`ll be able to get home," said Chris Moore as he was out celebrating St. Patrick's Day.

It's a simple solution that can become a part of your St. Patrick's Day tradition.
