Mequon police investigate suspcious man who confronted young girls

MEQUON (WITI) -- Mequon police are investigating a suspicious incident that happened along Freistadt Rd. just before noon on Monday, March 10th.

Officials say two girls, ages 10 and 11, were walking to a park when a vehicle stopped next to them. The man inside the vehicle asked several questions about their ages and where they went to school. He also displayed a star-shaped, gold badge without explanation.

The person left the area and the girls continued to walk to a park. The subject drove past the park entrance a couple of times and eventually entered it. He stopped and continued to ask the girls about their school. After asking these questions, the man left without incident.

The man is described as being African-American with a light complexion, in his 30s, with short, buzz-cut hair and a scruffy beard. He was wearing an orange or red shirt -- and was driving a small, black SUV.

There was no crime committed in this case, however the suspicious actions are of concern. Officials say this incident has many similarities to an incident that was reported by Brown Deer police in January.

If anyone has been approached or seen an individual matching the description of the person above, you're urged to call the Mequon Police Department at 262-242-3500.
